Kavello helps people find good places to focus (cafés, libraries, parks and study spaces) and share what they've found. This policy explains what information Kavello collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have.Kavello is run by Abby Hoffmann based in the United Kingdom ("Kavello", "we", "us"). 1. What we collect
Information you give us
Account details: your email address (if you sign up with email), first name, username, and optional tagline and profile picture. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from them (Apple may give us a private relay email).
Preferences: your usual focus type (reading, writing, studying or creative), what you look for in a place, and your home town.
Your activity: places you save, lists you create, reviews and ratings you write (including any photos and your notes about wi-fi, noise and plugs), comments, hearts, connections with other people, and people you block or reports you make.
Focus sessions: when you use the focus timer, we store the place (or "anywhere"), the date and times, how long you focused, your goal if you add one, and what you were doing.
Information collected as you use the app
Location: with your permission, Kavello uses your device's location to show places near you and to work out your town. We store your town and an approximate position (the point used to work it out) on your profile. You can turn location off in your phone's Settings; Kavello still works using the town you choose.
Technical information: Google's Firebase services record basic technical data needed to run the app securely (such as device and network details for sign-in and error prevention). Kavello does not use advertising or third-party analytics.
2. How we use that information
To run your account and sign you in.
To show you places, reviews, lists and activity that are relevant to you, and to show your reviews, lists and comments to other users.
To calculate place information, for example average focus time and ratings.
To keep Kavello safe: moderating reviews, comments and lists, handling reports, blocking, and preventing abuse.
To contact you about your account or about problems with the service.
Our legal bases under UK GDPR are: contract (running the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (keeping Kavello safe and improving it), and consent (for location, which you can withdraw at any time).
3. What other people can see
Your username, reviews, ratings, review photos, comments and public lists are visible to other Kavello users. Reviews also appear on place pages.
Lists marked Private are visible only to you. Lists shared with Friends are visible to your connections.
Your focus sessions, saved places, email and location are private to you. Hearts on reviews are anonymous (we don't show who gave them).
People you block can't see that you've blocked them.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We use these services to run Kavello:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions) stores and processes your data on our behalf.
Apple (Sign in with Apple, and Apple Maps search for places) and Google (Google Sign-In), only if you choose those options.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
Firebase may store data on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens it is protected by approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account (Profile, then Settings, then Delete account), we delete your profile, sessions, saved places, lists, comments, hearts, connections and photos, and remove your reviews. Review ratings are also removed from the place's totals.Some data can take up to 30 days to disappear from backups. Reports you've made, or that were made about you, may be kept for a short time where needed to keep Kavello safe.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; and move it to another service.You can delete your account yourself in the app, or email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
7. Children
Kavello is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and protected by access rules so people can only change their own information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep your device safe.
9. Cookies
The Kavello website (joinkavello.app) is a simple information page. Therefore, it doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't track visitors.The Kavello app itself doesn't use cookies.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.

These terms are an agreement between you and Kavello (run by Abby Hoffmann, United Kingdom). By creating an account or using the app you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.If you don't agree, please don't use Kavello.
1. What Kavello is
Kavello helps you find places to focus and lets you share your own experiences. Information about places (opening hours, amenities, prices, wi-fi, noise, plugs) comes from other users and other sources. It can be out of date or wrong. Check before you travel, and use your own judgement about places and your safety.
2. Who can use Kavello
You must be at least 13 years old. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for what happens on your account. Give us accurate information when you sign up.
3. Your content
You own what you post (reviews, ratings, photos, comments, list names).By posting it, you give Kavello a free, worldwide licence to store, display and share it within the service so that it works as described, including showing it to other users.You can delete your own content at any time, or delete your account.You confirm you have the right to post what you share, that it reflects your genuine experience, and that it's honest.
4. General usage rules
Don't post, or use Kavello to do, any of the following:
anything abusive, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexual, violent or otherwise objectionable;
content that is fake, misleading, paid-for without saying so, or reviews of places you haven't visited;
spam, advertising or links to other services;
personal information about other people, or photos of people without their consent;
anything illegal, or that infringes anyone's rights;
attempts to break, scrape, overload or gain unauthorised access to Kavello, or to get around blocks or moderation.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Activity will result in your account being banned and your information reported.
5. Reporting, blocking & moderation
You can report any review, comment or public list, and block any person, from the "…" menu.We review reports and may remove content, hide places, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, usually without notice for serious breaches.Blocking someone hides their content from you.Reviews may be checked before they are posted. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
6. Your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, then Settings, then Delete account). We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or are used to harm others or the service.
7. The service
We try to keep Kavello available and working, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.We may change or stop features, and we'll try to give notice of major changes.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.Otherwise, Kavello is provided "as is", and to the extent the law allows we aren't liable for losses caused by out-of-date or incorrect place information, other users' content, or interruptions to the service.If you're a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
9. Changes & Law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Kavello after a change means you accept it.These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you can also use your local courts.
